About Ellis & Co.

The firm of Lightens was established in Chester and Deeside in 1967, by Neil Lighten. It was subsequently re-named to Ellis & Co. in 1993, when Jim Ellis took over as the senior partner of the firm. He was later joined by Sarah Cornes and in September 2014, the firm became a limited company known as Ellis and Co Solicitors Ltd but they continue trading as Ellis and Co.

Originally practising in Grosvenor Street, the firm moved to its new offices in Castle Street in 1993. During 1995, the firm took on a branch office in Buckley, incorporating another firm in the process. In 2005, we made the decision to consolidate the firm, closing our branch office and moving the staff to Chester, so that we were all under one roof.

Ellis & Co has a long history of legal services. The great majority of our work comes from repeat clients or personal recommendations.
